Botox can damage muscles, bones and teeth

In 2012, an article was published by the International Dental Journal that botox was effective in treating teeth and the jaw pain. But attitudes have changed since then, as animal studies have shown that botox can actually damage the bone (jawbone) by up to 40% after just a single treatment. Animal studies have shown that dramatic changes in bone mass can be seen only 4 weeks after botulinum toxin injection, and that only half of the bone mass was recovered after 3 months. It is not yet known whether the bone recovers 100% or whether the damage is permanent.

Currently, botox is used by some plastic surgeons to make the sub-face appear narrower, as the toxin is known to reduce chewing muscles when injected.
